How safe is your computer? Well, an answer for that question is also a question. What Anti Virus do you use? It is so important in a computer security to choose what best fit your needs and what can it do to you or in the company. To guide more on how to choose what software to use, here are some of the best Anti-Virus softwares availble:

Bitdefender. The best line of defense against computer viruses, spyware, hackers and spam is BitDefender 2008, our #1 ranked anti–virus software and winner of “TopTenREVIEWS Gold Award.” BitDefender 2008 is an outstanding product with a user–friendly interface that will scan all existing files on your computer, all incoming and outgoing emails, IM transfers and all other network traffic.

Kaspersky also receives a perfect score on our review, passes nearly all of the major virus tests, has hourly definition updates and offers an extensive feature set. This is the “TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award”anti-virus software.Though Kaspersky ranks very close to the #1 product, we found that BitDefender had one more option, the registry startup protection. And, at $24.95 BitDefender is the better deal.

ESET’s Nod32 has an excellent virus detection rate earning the VB100% in all eight of its most recent Windows test. This software has a number of practical features to help you monitor your computer’s security including outbreak notices and history/report logging. This antivirus software wins our "TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award"and would have placed higher if it were a bit more novice friendly.

The software uses some technical terms in the interface and other areas of the product. Novices may find the higher-ranked products easier to use.

We humans have never accepted the idea that it is only on the Earth that life has occurred. From earliest times when we peopled the heavens with gods, goddesses and supernatural beings, through our space exploration activities of the 20th Century, we are driven to decide the question:

Is there Life on Other Planets?

"There have been key discoveries that suggest life is simple, straightforward and easy if you have the right conditions. There is a remarkable change among scientists from just 20 years ago."

– Bruce M. Jakosky, University of Colorado, American Astronomical Society, 10/14/98

The Japanese government estimates the Earth Simulator cost $400,000,000, making it the most expensive computer ever built. The budget for the Earth Simulator project was authorized for the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) and the Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation (PNC) in 1997, and NEC Corporation made the winning bid for the Japanese project.
By May 2002, the 640 processor node supercomputer was benchmarked with Linpack as having 35.86 TFlop/s performance. This gave it the top spot on the TOP500 Supercomputer Sites list until 2004 when IBM’s BlueGene/L supercomputer took its place using an architecture that cost less than half as much to implement.

Each processor node in the Earth Simulator contains 8 vector processors running at 500MHz with 16GB of shared memory, and the total main memory in the machine is 10 terabytes. The operating system running on the supercomputer is NEC’s UNIX-based OS called “SUPER-UX” which is used on NEC’s SX Series of supercomputers.

This expensive computer is used for a wide variety of international projects, most of which are related to atmospheric, climate, and oceanographic simulation.

IBM scientists, in collaboration with the University of Regensburg in Germany, are the first ever to measure the force it takes to move individual atoms on a surface. This fundamental measurement provides important information for designing future atomic-scale devices: computer chips, miniaturized storage devices, and more.

The traditional way of passing and retrieving data from page to page requires you to click submit buttons to pass all form fields and process it. After submitting, the user will have to wait for the server’s reply and be redirected to the action page where the results are provided. With this type of traditional architecture of processing data would require much time and would result for unproductive work paradigm.

With the use of AJAX, while preparing the data to be processed, a parallel request operation is done through the javascript XMLHttpRequest object.  So, the page would request and at the same time response from the web server without reloading the page. The user will just stay on the same page and the background scripts will do the processing of sending and re retrieving request results from the server .

Learning this type of programming technique requires you to have a backgeound on the following:

1. AJAX

2. XML

3. HTML

4. CSS (optional)

BUT WHY DEVELOP WEB APPLICATIONS?

Web applications have more advantages compared to desktop applications. First, web applications could be easily deployed. Second, it has many supports and easy to develop. Lastly, Web Apps are more flexible and more portable since you can access it through any web browsers.

Although desktop applications out fits web applications in terms of user-friendlyness and richness, with the use of AJAX, it would answer all these problems and even left behind desktop applications.

AJAX stands for Asynchronous JavaScript And XML.

AJAX is a type of programming made popular in 2005 by Google (with Google Suggest).

AJAX is not a new programming language, but a new way to use existing standards.

With AJAX you can create better, faster, and more user-friendly web applications.

AJAX is based on JavaScript and HTTP requests.

Why is it that when you type the email address of a person from your gmail account, it would automatically filter and show possible match of your request?

Why is it that when you type a keyword for the Yahoo! search engine, it would automatically suggests some relevant related data without even executing your request?

These questions would point towards the latest innovation in web programming - AJAX. I’m about to start my studies about AJAX. Wish me luck!

We can not deny the fact that only 2 big names were racing for the title: THE BEST INTERNET BROWSER. But, before we judge both competitors, let us first discuss their advantages and disadvantages:

Name

Obviously, just basing from its name, you would already know that this is for internet browsing. No wonder if they would sell yellow papers, they would name it as YELLOW PAPERS.

– Honestly, the first time I have heard the name, I associated it to a movie. Well, if you are not familiar with firefox, you would really think it as other tag or name.

Domain Name

– When you visit www.firefox.com, you will be redirected to the official website of the said browser.

– On the other hand, if you visit www.initernetexplore.com, the site also affiliates itself to the said product yet it is not the official website of the program. Since Microsoft owns the said product, then you should visit www.microsoft.com for more info.

What their users’ say…..

- it has so much popups, spywares, viruses and expensive.
– simple, tabbed browsing and an Open Source software (which helps address the poverty that most people have been experiencing).

Conclusion

It was a very close fight but only one must be awarded. And the winner is:
